Jungle's Law

Animals are totally crazy... That has been confirmed many times by my numerous (too numerous?) viewings of animal documentaries and it appears to me today as an obvious fact which doesn't need to be debated.

Plants are ok... They are generally quiet... One has time to guess what they are after... They can be pushy but they rarely lay into somebody without prior warning. Overall, they aren't that annoying.

But beasts...honestly ... They are nuts, worrying, weird, dangerous, mean, impolite, badly tempered, dirty, of bad faith, lying most of the time... I mean, I don't think I could have enough words to name and shame their base acts.

Of course, I can already hear you saying: "well... what about all the videos of nice little cute and adorable kittens on Youtube, huh ? What about the kittens?" I answer that kittens are the trees hiding the gentle forest. Just imagine a ferocious rain forest without wild animals and you'll be totally convinced! Yes! That would be pure Heaven.

Actually, beasts abide only to one law... the law of the jungle - a world where sheep eat sheep. If you don't believe me, then just read the pages of this comic.

The Pests

Jungle's Law - 35

While we're talking about it, here is an idea of a prank for April fool day.  So, you decide one day to create a comics. You decide to publish best pages on a site like Deviantart. Then you decide to post a special page on the 1st of April talking about April fool day. And then (this is at that point it starts to be hilarious) you miss the deadline !!!! Ah Ah  Ah !! And finally, you post the whole thing on (I'm laughing so much I can't write) the 15th of june !! Ah Ah Ah Ah

Cobras Story

Jungle's Law - 34

One tends to think that all written stories contain autobiographical indications on their authors. If it is partially true, I strongly state that this is not the case in the above example. Indeed, I have no Indian origins, no double stuff, nothing… To make it clear, I haven't any physical resemblances with these two characters… well, maybe something with the bull, as far as size is concerned… but no, no… it is purely coincidental.

Group Therapy - The Confidence

Jungle's Law - 33

The people involved in this area will probably not like it... Others, who have run from it, will maybe smile. But it was a real blast to use the ugliest bird of the creation which fits especially well with the subject!

Since we talk about marabou storks, in french speaking African countries, the local chamans or medecine men are called "Marabous". Some are real wise men - but most of those immigrating in Europe are just crooks. There is an advertisement from one of those in which the guy promisses he can bring back the loved one, make you succeed in everything you attempt and cure all illnesses - the basic usual things. But the guy even boasts as being able to rise or diminish (!!) the size of all penis, straighten up twisted dicks and perform surgical operations over the phone. He ends up by asserting he can even manage to start russian bikes (ex USSR flooded tons of them all over Africa years back)! Another one, well anchored in the 21st century, promisses to repair PCs and bad sectors on hard disks using telepathy!

Head On

Jungle's Law - 32

Some will say they are not really plastered, in fact.

Or that swallows are not that serious and work oriented.

Or that woodpeckers are not all brutal drunks.

Maybe... But my birds are all that and even worse.

Wait, dentist can save your life… but sometimes, they can be humiliating…
I'm not proud of it, but once a dentist made a nasty comment and I just got rid of all his stuff and walked off without a word.
But in their defense, dentists can be very hot…

Weather Forecast

Jungle's Law - 29

1. Names of dinosaurs always amused me. I can picture a paleontologist finding a kind of stone on the ground and thinking : "Oh my God, the left corner of the neck of a femur of a diplocatharis leopoliisis galliporathorus !! " Then, he looks better at it and think: "No, I'm stupid, it is a part of the fibula of a malachokisalus velocimalavus !! Pfff, sometimes I'm really out of it".

2. The title of this page could have been: "there is no one blinder than he who does not wish to see". But they say: "Nooo, a title can't be so long". However, this is the subject of this page. That's amazing how people or leaders facing possible catastrophes (natural, ecologic, political, environmental, or else) don't want to really look at them. And this is as amazing how creative men can be if they decide to take measures to at least limit the effects (a guy invented a system allowing to divert earthquakes from specific areas – he tested it and it works. One just needs to plant concrete poles at specific places deep in the ground which dissipates seismic waves taking advantage of some physical properties of wave phenomena).

This is a poor attempt in translating in english a comics page published originally in French. I doubt the pun can be understood but let's have a try. If not, i'll give some more explanations.

Taking A Goose Step

Jungle's Law - 21

Amazingly enough, this page was story boarded before the recent attack in France against Charlie Hebdo and other people. I was half way when I heard the news on radio and I was stuck and scotched before my TV set for a long moment.

However, at start, I just wanted to have fun with the Goose reputation as being very territorial and mean sometimes. AND the famous goose step which is a military parade marching step used in most totalitarian regimes. In fact, was just a black humor attempt to expose problematics on how to fight a rising fascist/totalitarian movement.

Nevertheless, one can't avoid thinking about the recent events in France about Charlie Hebdo. I wanted this page being more universal and not just one more "my little drawing to support Charlie". I hesitated posting it, but finally decided nobody and nothing would stop me doing what I wanted to do.

To go back to the subject, I don't have simple definite answer. Maybe everything is a matter of estimation of risks and liabilities facing a dangerous deadly situation and also a matter of efficiency. Back in WWII, the French Resistance was composed of brave men to say the least… but it would have been just stupidly suicidal and useless to stand in front a German military HQ and scream "Hitler is a bastard".  However, when looking at historical facts, I heard that  in November 1943, a group of the French resistance entered in a French village, paraded with their arms in the main street, brought a floral wreath they solemnly put down at the WWI memorial symbolizing victory against Germany, they sung the National Anthem and then scattered in the woods just before the arrival of a German patrol. That was a way to send the message: "we are there, we stand still and we are not afraid".

Eating Like A Pig

Jungle's Law - Page 16

Well, this page deserves some explanations:

One must bear in mind that in France, we eat (except for the persons who doesn't) everything in the pig, from the ears to feet… Ah the "pieds de porcs pannés"! But everybody doesn't like it though…

The typical culinary expression "à l'envoi" means "just before sending" (when a meal is completed, cooked, there sometimes a last action to do just before sending the plate to the dining room. Adding some lemon juice or adding cream "à l'envoi", meaning one adds some cream in the sauce, stirring a little and it is ready ! The Michelin Guide is the absolute reference – one star, two stars or even three stars and this is a real guarantee of top quality and… high prices. There are a lot of good restaurants which have no star at all.

In France, gastronomic restaurants tend to use metaphors to describe or to name a meal. Three things become "a trilogy", a series of ingredients become a "farandole", etc. And sometimes, the explanation given by the waiter is so full of technical words that you don't get exactly what you have in your plate. The worst is for wines – but it is clearly snobbish sometimes.

Cooking, at this level of professionalism is quite a male affair in these days. Most of the Stars of cooking are men. Except, one forgets that a good part of the major restaurants in France were founded by women chefs which were called "Mother" and not "Chef".
